S5 ACTIVE MONITOR

It's no secret that Mackie makes some of the best sounding professional studio monitors in the world. Now that uncompromising design expertise is available at an entry-level price with the TAPCO S·5 Active Studio Monitor. The S·5 features rich, accurate sound, with excellent stereo imaging and a "sweet spot" you just won't believe possible in a monitor this affordable.

Exceptional sonic performance
The S•5 active studio monitors may be small, but they're designed to be transparent, producing uncolored sound for critical desktop monitoring in home recording studios, video editing suites, and home theater systems. The S•5's two-way bass reflex design provides an amazingly flat frequency response and benefits from complete system integration with active crossovers, dual 60-watt power amplifiers, precision drivers (5.25-inch LF, 1-inch HF) and a custom-tuned, ported cabinet.

Adjustable, to work any room
Every room is different. Variables like size and shape, furniture, doors and windows, carpeted or wood floors, and where you sit when you listen, all combine to determine what you hear. With the S•5, we included some fine calibration controls to let you adjust the low (+2, +4 dB below 100Hz) and high (+/- 2dB above 5kHz) frequency response to correct any bad influences caused by the room. More importantly, these controls help to ensure that the great sounds you get with the S•5 also sound great on your home stereo, in the car, and anywhere else your music is played.

Protecting your investment
We know people want to blast their monitors for long periods in less than laboratory conditions, so we added some extra circuitry just to keep your S•5s performing their best. The S•5s are tuned to maximize efficiency, but they can get hot when used in the real world. If the electronics get too hot, separate thermal switches activate and shut down the high and/or low frequency amplifiers until they cool down. An Over-excursion filter, just before the low frequency amplifier protects the woofer from shredding itself when the low-end is driven to the maximum. These extra protections ensure long life and monitors you can count on to have your back at all times. Finally, we've adding magnetic shielding to protect your computer display or television from being permanently being tweaked from the powerful magnets found inside the S•5.

SW-10 ACTIVE SUBWOOFER

Developed by the renowned Mackie studio monitor team, the SW•10 Active Studio subwoofer destroys anything in its class—both in sound quality and looks. The huge sounding, yet compact TAPCO SW•10 "mini-sub" offers devastatingly loud, punchy, and precise low-end down to 34 Hz—which is pretty damn low. It can be used in a variety of applications, including small project studios, surround sound editing, home theater playback, and desktop audio workstations. With its huge bass, full, powerful sound, and superior performance, the SW•10 is the perfect compact subwoofer to add necessary thump to a stereo or surround monitoring system made up of S•5 and S•8 desktop monitors.

Control
The SW•10 Active Studio Subwoofer employs an acoustic suspension design for tight, articulate bass, which provides an amazingly flat and linear low-frequency response down to 34 Hz. In other words, it's tight and low. Variable input sensitivity lets you adjust the volume so it's just right for your system. The onboard Active crossover is a Linkwitz-Riley design—usually found in much higher end speakers—providing a low end range of 55 Hz to 110 Hz at 24 dB/octave. The individual crossover controls for the left and right channels provide additional flexibility in surround sound applications with a subwoofer output and bass management (LFE). Finally, there's a polarity reverse switch for optimizing the performance of the SW•10 with the other speakers in your system.

I/O Low-down
The SW•10 hooks up easily with any system. Left and right inputs are provided on both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA connectors. The SW•10 also offers dual high-Pass Outputs (also on XLR and RCA connectors) for connecting Active monitors like the S•5s and S•8s, or passive speakers through a separate power amplifier. The SW•10's crossover splits off all of the bass frequencies from the incoming audio signals and sends the mids and highs to separate studio monitors. This way, the SW•10 focuses on the boom, and the other speakers handle the rest for improved efficiency and overall clarity.

Protecting your investment
Accidents happen, so we added some dope circuitry just to keep your SW•10 performing its best. The SW•10 is tuned to maximize efficiency, but it can get hot if you run it loud for long periods. If the electronics get too hot, a thermal switch activates and shuts down the amplifier until it's cool again. A peak limiter circuit also monitors the amplifier output signal to guard against clipping and overloading the amplifier. This allows for loud punchy bass performance without distortion, and ensures long-term reliability.
