A BIT OF HISTORY

Time for a history lesson. Gretsch started out in 1883 when Friedrich Gretsch started making banjos, tambourines and drums in a factory in Brooklyn. In the mid 1950's Friedrich's grandson, Fred Jr, took over the reins and began the golden years of Gretsch. That was when the legendary White Falcon was released and the Broadcaster series came onto the market. Poor old Leo Fender had to change the names of his Broadcaster to the Telecaster and, in between relabeling, built some 'nocasters'. Nocasters are subsequently hideously expensive. So there you go. You see this website isn't just about us pedalling the latest gear. It's all about education and this info may even win you the picnic rug at a trivia night; if you care to remember it.
