There are dozens of effects units out in the market ranging from these iconic brands down
to some below average models that you see on Ebay. These models below aren't cheap
and it's because they are not churned out of some factory in China but are made
by dedicated muso's who are looking for tonal perfection.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. The Crybaby Wah-Wah has stood the test of time and has served generations of guitarists of every style. The sound is unmistakable, and frankly, has never been duplicated. There is but one control, the pedal itself - that is all you need to add this classic sound to your own. Mash the pedal down and the effect kicks in. Mash it again and you've engaged the bypass and your pure signal passes through.

Here's a secret of the pros: turn the effect on and find that "sweet spot" about half-way down the travel of the pedal. Leave it right there, and turn up the crunch on your amp. It's a sound you've heard and tried to get, but just couldn't get quite right.

Its heavy-duty construction means you will wear out pairs of shoes before you wear the Crybaby out. There is a saying that "they don't make them like they used to," which is disproved here, because they are still making the Crybaby like they used to.

From Van Halen to reggae, the MXR Phase 90's swooshy and shimmering sounds have made it a beloved classic. One knob is all you need. Provides the classic 4 stage phasing sound with continuous variable speed control. Phase 90 fixed regeneration level adds intensity and is particularly effective for keyboards. This device has found its way into many of Eddie Van Halen's recordings, adding a shimmery velocity to lead passages or a more dramatic swoosh to muted strumming. This phaser is not just designed for guitars; it works well with basses, keyboards, and even vocals and appears in all of these guises on Dweezil Zappa's Z album, 'Music For Pets,' which reveals its flexible and hip nature.

Versatile classic distortion pedal. The Guv'nor Plus has stacks of gain, loads of level, and all the power and tone of the original much-loved Guv'nor - and then some! Adding one to your set-up is just like adding another Marshall amp to your rig. The Guv'nor is one of Marshall's most famous stomp boxes for a reason. Intended to replicate the sound of a Marshall JCM800 amplifier pushed to the max, this pedal delivers some truly classic distortion tonage. New to this year's model is a "deep boost" control, designed to give your tone a huge, resonant low-end boost. We don't like to be hyporbolic, but this thing is like Angus in a box -- little red shorts not included.

Twin modes with Masses of Gain and loads of control will take your guitar sound straight over the edge. From cranium crushing crunch, use the Contor control to scoop for savage slamming solos. The most extreme Marshall distortion pedal ever. If you want the earth to move - you need a Jackhammer. Marshall's Jackhammer stomp box provides a distortion fix for old school metal purists. Expect nothing but heavy gain and scooped mids from this little beast. From chugga-chugga Slayer rhythms to weedly-deedly Yngwie leads, the Jackhammer is built to satisfy the metal monster within.

Divine reverb for mere mortals Down from the heavens comes the Holy Grail, a compact digital reverb guitar pedal. Priced so low thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's reverb tank any longer. The Holy Grail will make you a believer with its emulation of classic Spring reverb so faithful that even Dick Dale couldn't tell the difference. Next, get lost in the lush spaciousness of the Hall reverb and ask yourself, "How did they fit Notre Dame into such a small package?" Finally, reach enlightenment with the haunting Flerb
After extensive research into what made the 1970 Big Muff such a special and legendary pedal, Electro-Harmonix came up with a new addition to its Big Muff family: The Little Big Muff.

Housed in a compact, die-cast box with smooth corners, The Little Big Muff presents the classic, true-to-heritage, 1970 tone that falls somewhere between the current U.S. Big Muff and the Russian Big Muff. Its long, silky smooth sustain proves that celebrated sound can indeed come in small packages.

With a familiar control layout and a pedigree you can trust, this little brother kicks total butt.

The Small Stone's full-bodied, 3-dimensional phasing adds a special swirl to every musical style. Blues boys and babes dig its rapidly rotating speaker effect while Country players use it to add seasoning to their chicken' pickin'. Metal-heads and Industrialists dig the Stone's jet plane woosh. No matter what your musical pleasure, the Small Stone is guaranteed to increase it!

Hotcakes. I love the floury, buttery goodness. I love the way the Maple Syrup runs down the side of the stack like a sugary waterfall. I love the mix of simple carbohydrates and fat. I also like them home made. I don't want my Hotcakes mass produced in some nameless factory. I want the Hotcake that Noel Gallagher has. I want what Neil Finn and Sonic Youth have. I want a Hotcake made by a drummer. I want a Crowther Audio Hotcake Overdrive Pedal. These are hand-made in NZ and are considered by many to deliver the ultimate distortion sound. They only have three knobs - drive, level and presence, and that is all they need. They are as rare as hen's teeth and we did have two in the store but now we only have one left.

The Hotcake is designed to leave the undistorted component of the guitar sound unchanged, while providing a nice fat distortion sound without
resorting to a treble cut circuit which will also affect the guitar tonality. With the Drive and Presence controls set to minimum, and the Level at around 2 o'clock, you should be hard pressed to hear any change in the sound at all when you switch the Hotcake in and out. You can get a clean volume boost by increasing the Level control. Increasing the Drive will give you a
thick distortion sound with a little bit of edge to it, and the Presence control adds some mid-range punch to the sounds. The Hotcake also handles chords well. It is recommended that the Hotcake is patched between the guitar and amplifier, rather than into an amplifier's effect loop. Generally speaking, if you are happy with your guitar and amplifier combination, the Hotcake will work well as a primary distortion. It works superbly to send an
already overdriven amp over the edge into smooth distortion;ideal with non-master volume valve amps.

The legendary Whammy™

It’s been a decade since the Whammy™ was introduced and now it has a permanent place on every professional’s pedalboard. This is what has made the Whammy™ a legend. Hit after hit, performance after performance, the Whammy™ not only adds to your playing, it creates new sounds, feelings and textures.

The Whammy™ is simple – Take your guitar’s sound and pitch shift it using a special algorithm, then control that pitch with an expression pedal. So easy and so expressive that it takes your playing to a new world of quirky squeals, monster dive bombs lower than any whammy bar and bends that can only be found on other instruments. It’s no wonder why this single pedal is legendary.

As made famous by ‘Rage against the machine’ and ‘Audioslave’

The Proco Rat Distortion Pedal is another classic distortion box. Usable tones range from a smudge of dirt to full-on piles of absolutely filthy grime.

Researched and designed to produce a sound that is radically different from any "distortion" you've ever heard before - a sound as mellow as a vintage "twin," or as bone-crushingly powerful as a battery of those famous English stacks - instantly, at any volume.

Smooth, continuously variable controls for distortion amount, filter cutoff, and volume level let you preset just the right degree of overdrive, tune in on the presence without tinny treble, and balance the output for that perfect extra boost.

The RAT 2 offers glow-in-the-dark luminescent control graphics and new LED status indicator. You'll never be "lost in the dark" again!

The RAT 2 is housed in Pro Co's inimitably massive steel enclosure, with a simple-to-use "no tools required" battery compartment. Top grade components like a mil-spec glass-epoxy circuit board, conductive plastic controls and the heavy-duty industrial footswitch make for trouble-free reliability on the road. Careful circuit design and integrated circuit selection insure extended battery life. For 120 VAC operation use the RPS-1 power supply.

The true bypass mode utilizes passive switching of both input and output from the signal path to eliminate the loss of power and clarity often caused by other devices. The LED indicator on the RAT 2 is driven by a unique FET sensor circuit to avoid the noise of unnecessary buffer stages and preserve the great RAT sound.

The RAT 2's smooth harmonic distortion puts the extra punch in rhythm work and makes solos cut through with authority, power, and effortless sustain.

Distortion, sustain, fuzz, overdrive - from the sweet wail of the blues to the grinding raunch of the heaviest metal - STOMP ON A RAT!

Vexter Fuzz Factory

The Vexter Fuzz Factory is identical in construction to the newest hand-painted Fuzz Factories, including a DC power jack and on/off LED indicator. Because it is hand silk-screened instead of hand-painted, we are able to offer it at a somewhat reduced price!

This is a five-knob fuzz using two new old-stock sixties germanium transistors. The circuit is not modeled after any classic fuzz design, but should have been around when Leary was still lucid.
Although the five knobs are named for the parameters over which they seem to have the most control, please don't hold me to it. They are controls for various operating levels and biases, and basically shape you a personalized fuzz.

The Energy Bow

The Energy Bow is a totally unique guitar accessory. It's not just an effect like the many plug-in devices on the market. The EBow does its work on the string itself by producing an energy field that vibrates and sustains your guitar string... Direct String Synthesis™. Infinite Sustain is just the beginning. Powered by a 9-volt battery, the EBow is held in place of your pick, giving you instant access to violin, cello, flute and horn sounds as well as unique sounds of its own. The EBow lets you play as fast as your left hand can scurry through a lick. Fade a string in from a motionless state for a reverse-tape effect. Run the EBow across the strings for gorgeous arpeggios. Add distortion for a screaming guitar sound. Playing the EBow directly over the pickup will increase your volume many fold and give you the crisp sound of super hot pickups. Moving away from the pickup gives you the mellow sound of a hollow body electric. The sounds you discover by experimenting with the EBow will amaze you. And like the best tools of the trade, the EBow will sound different for each musician.
