Why should every Greenie have one? It's simple economics really. As the blurb from Maton below states, some of the timbers used in creating this guitar are becoming increasingly scarce. Scarce commodities fetch high prices. If something fetches a high price it is less likely to be bulldozed and burnt. Take Red Cedar as an example. After years of wholesale plundering the price has skyrocketed and now they are developing massive plantations of the stuff in North Queensland. So save a tree from the pulp mills and grab a Birregurra Creek.

Fresh from the hallowed ground that is the Maton Custom shop comes a guitar that is Australian all over. This majestic instrument is constructed from 100% Australian native timbers and we love it. 

Birregurra Creek is an unusual guitar that the Maton Custom Shop built exclusively from
native Australian timbers. The face is made from Bunya, found in Southern Queensland, expertly
combined with Fiddleback Blackwood timber back and sides, from dense forests in the Otway
Ranges in south western Victoria. Mulga, a tight grained acacia that was once common but is
becoming rarer in the Australia outback, is used for the Birregurra Creek’s fingerboard and bridge.
Australiana continues in the Soundhole Rosette, which has intricate inlay work that uses hand
selected pieces of Satinbox also found in the Otways along side Victorian Blackwood.
Birregurra is a small town in the foothills of the Otway Ranges, near the source of the Satinbox
and Blackwood timbers used in this guitar.
 

MINI MATON

The EMD is without a doubt one of the best 12 strings ever made. The action is fantastic and allows the player to make full use of the fretboard very easily. The enormous sound that comes out of this tiny unit makes you believe that you are playing a full size guitar.
